Grant Money Made Available to Winnetka Heights Residents for Sidwalk Repair.
by Lee Ruiz (President)The Winnetka Heights Neighborhood Association has extended its Walkable Winnetka program for the 2012-2013 year. The program, launched as a pilot in 2011, provides grants of up to $700 per homeowner for sidewalk repair. A total of $3000 has been reserved for sidewalk improvements through the Walkable Winnetka program, partially funded by a grant from the Old Oak Cliff Conservation League.
Currently, grants are only available for the repair of sidewalks that have been assessed as “red”, meaning that the sidewalk is missing, is impassible or is deemed to be a significant hazard. Residents must participate in either the City of Dallas FastFix sidewalk repair program or the City’s Cost Share sidewalk repair program. Grants are available only for owner-occupied residences.
