Night In The Heights is one of the most anticipated events of the year in Winnetka Heights. The night is a cocktail party that progresses through three homes of neighbors that have generously agreed to open their homes and host neighbors and friends. We celebrate the food, drinks and culture of the three countries that the hosts represent.

This year, funds raised from Night In The Heights will benefit neighborhood beautification. The event starts on Saturday, May 18th at 6:45pm. Passports are SOLD OUT. You can also purchase raffle tickets at the event!

With your help, we will temporarily transform a public street into a community centered plaza. The effort will include cleaning, painting, construction of public seating using reclaimed materials, and more. This will be one of the city of Dallas’s first “Pavement to Plaza” projects, which are being developed across the country to create more neighborhood focused public spaces.

As such, there will be a strong need for involvement from our neighborhood.  We will need volunteers donating their time and effort during the days leading up to the event, as well as help and participation the day of the event – let’s be sure to have a strong showing.  We will also be looking for donated items to execute the vision (i.e. brooms, dust pans, trash bags, building items, water station, etc.).

Team Better Block is conducting a strategy and execution meeting on Monday (5/13/13).  Upon completion we will have a better grasp of exactly what items and quantities we will need.  There will be another round of correspondence at that time.  And we promise that you will be done in time to get ready for Night In The Heights!

The Rosemont Plaza will be a key gateway to Winnetka Heights at the junction of Davis, Rosemont and Seventh Streets.  The design will consider elements of Heights Garden park.

All Winnetka Heights residents are encouraged to attend and share their views on this important project, the first new public space design in Winnetka Heights in a generation.

Ms. Holliday, a native of South Carolina , weaves her own life experiences and observations into a thoroughly entertaining evening of  what she describes as “original country-folk-rock-bluegrass-blues music that you can dance to.”

This year’s fundraiser, Do-Si-Dough for Rosemont,will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 7 p.m. until midnight at Four Corners Brewery, located at 423 Singleton Avenue in Dallas.
