Bogus citation for C.A.?
We arrived home this evening to find a city citation for "failure to obtain a C.A. prior to installing steel door and aluminium windows."
The main source of confusion is that all windows and doors were pre-existing upon our purchase of the house last year, and we don't even have a steel door. How can we be cited for changes made before we took title of the property?
Has anyone had problems like this with the city with regard to being held liable for the failure of the previous owner to obtain a C.A.? If so, what steps should we take in resolving this matter as quickly and painlessly as possible.
We appreciate any thoughts.
