Cafe Maya
We tried the Cafe Maya, which just opened on Jefferson in the old Casa San Francisco/Loretta's/Cafe somthingoranother/Faz Cuisine/Ojeda's space.
The service was remarkable, very professional. We had the guacamole, which was made tableside and the combo fajitas. The guac was obviously fresh and good, although the avocado could have used another couple of days to ripen up. The fajitas were good. We didn't drink that night (shocking I know), but the margaritas looked inviting and, overall, the place had a good vibe. The menu has some traditional Tex-Mex items, but also some interior Mexican items that sound delicious.
The place has potential. Has anyone else been? As always, a good hangout, walking distance fromhome, is always appreciated.

Re: Cafe Maya
Been to Cafe Maya several times and the food is great, as is the service. Margaritas are quite tasty, especially at happy hour
. They also have Sunday brunch, including New Year's day, we were reminded last night.
Not sure why there aren't more people frequenting the place. I fear it may go the way of the many other restaurants that have been in that same spot. A real shame, since the food is very good and reasonably priced.

Paul and I go every Friday. This place has everything going for it except location. It is GREAT for us Winnetka Heights folks but not for many others. I post every Friday on Facebook about this place and tell people I know who work around this place about it. I have never had a more friendly wait staff. The owner and his family are so dear and sweet and full of enthusiasm for their restaurant. If you want to go where not only they will remember your name but remember what you like GO!!!!

I like this place as well. The seafood nachos go really well with a cold beer!
